Blessing and Responsibility

The freedoms we enjoy in America were only dreams across the span of human history. The ability to freely acquire wealth, own property, vote for our leaders and generally do whatever we want and can afford to do have not always been available to the common citizen. Those freedoms are a great blessing.

We chose to turn wood and to purchase equipment and accessories that we want in a free society. We make whatever we decide to make, whenever we decide to make it. Those freedoms can be fleeting if we are not diligent. In a representative republic, our responsibility is to be diligent in selecting those who will make our laws since we don’t make them directly. As you enjoy this Independence Day in 2016, I would encourage you to prepare yourself and learn about the candidates and the issues facing us in November. Then do your civic duty and actually make it to the polling place to cast your vote.

I for one love America and enjoy the freedoms my father and his before him fought for. I intend to fight to maintain our freedoms and our way of life to the best of my ability for my family, my neighbors and my fellow Americans. Sweet Janice and I hope you enjoy the BBQ and time with your family and friends on this Independence Day 240 years after its declaration because wherever you go, there you are.

Here is my inspiration for this message:

Proverbs 25:19 KJV

Confidence in an unfaithful man in time of trouble is like a broken tooth, and a foot out of joint.

Luke 12:48 KJV

But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.
