God So Loved That He Gave. . .

This is the time of year that the entire world celebrates the birth of our savior. The song “Silver Bells” says it so very well:

City Sidewalks, busy sidewalks

Dressed in holiday style

In the air there is a feeling of Christmas

Children laughing, people passing

Greeting smile after smile

And on every street corner you'll hear.

Silver Bells, Silver Bells

It's Christmas time in the city

Ring-a-ling hear them ring

Soon it will be Christmas Day.

Oh how richly blessed are we to live in this prosperous land with the best economy on the planet. Yet not everyone has more than they need, some don’t have nearly enough. In addition to many turned items that we make almost effortlessly and give to our family, friends, and neighbors, this year I’d like to suggest that you bring some Christmas Joy to a person or family you know that is struggling. Maybe a single mother possibly working two jobs, a military vet struggling to cope, someone facing health issues or an elderly neighbor will be the one you pick this Christmas. Your gift could be something as simple as a turkey or ham or even a gift card for groceries. Or you might even set an extra place at the table and invite them to join you in your family's holiday feast. And while you are at it, you might think about throwing in a turned wooden salad bowl or a hand-made cutting board.

A wise man once reminded me that I might be the answer to someone’s prayer no matter what the time of year so I should always be ready to step up. That is such good advice that I had to pass it along to you also. So many folks helped Janice and me when we needed help badly that we delight in being able to help others now. Remember that wherever you go, there you are. From the Ron and Janice Brown family, we wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year in 2020.

Here is my inspiration for this message:

John 3:16 NIV For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

1 John 4:11 NIV Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.

John 13:34 NIV A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.
