Enjoying The In-between
As an instructor, I often have students who madly write everything down as I do it or explain it. They think if they record everything step-by-step that is the key. The real key is in understanding the process so you can enjoy the in-between. Writing code and computer programing can be done step by step, but more artistic endeavors where there are so many variables must often be much less structured.
OK, if you are making 100 porch balusters that all have to be exactly the same; you can develop a step by step plan. Try that with most bowls and it is very difficult to find two exactly the same. What you need to know is the process:
Harvest the bowl blank from a log or purchase it then preferably cut it to round on the band saw. Mount the bowl blank securely between centers. Rough it out – bottom side first and establish a tenon for the next step. Rough out the inside Let it dry, sometimes for several months Finish turning the outside Finish turning the inside Remove the tenon. Apply finish.
These are all processes with a million steps contained in each process. Once you learn the logical sequence for each process you will have the freedom to enjoy the in-between. Life itself is like that, it’s a process. I am recommending that once you understand that, you will enjoy the in-between much more. Many thanks for all of your support and confidence in the products we offer. We are really enjoying the in-between. We always love hearing from you and your suggestions are always welcomed. Remember that wherever you go there you are.
Here is my inspiration for this week’s message:
Phil 4:11 ESV Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content.
Prov 30:8 NIV Keep falsehood and lies far from me; give me neither poverty nor riches, but give me only my daily bread.
Ps 63:5-8 ESV My soul will be satisfied as with fat and rich food, and my mouth will praise you with joyful lips, when I remember you upon my bed, and meditate on you in the watches of the night; for you have been my help, and in the shadow of your wings I will sing for joy. My soul clings to you; your right hand upholds me.
