Chicken Feathers
Sometimes you get the chicken, sometimes you get the feathers. Sometimes you are the bug sometimes you are the windshield. Paul said it best and I paraphrase, “I’m content no matter what.” I don’t think I’m unduly emotional, but my family might tell you differently.
When I have a breakthrough with something I’ve been working on and it all comes together I get giddy and carry on excessively, according to them. I think I’m just happy about my victory. When things haven’t gone particularly well, the only way they know about it is that I get unusually quiet. I don’t vocalize my disappointment except in prayer, but I do get quite and wish to be alone while I work through the situation within myself. Whatever my current circumstance, I work through it knowing things always change one way or the other.
When we try something new in the world of turning wood or with life in general, we seldom experience instant victory so don’t be disappointed. I almost always have to make an item several times before I get it right. I eventually have pretty good success because I’m willing to try again and again until I get it right. This holds true whether I’m at the lathe, the CNC, my laser or my computer or anywhere else for that matter.
We recently had a meltdown with our website and it crashed catastrophically. This wasn’t a hack or a breach and no information was stolen, the site just stopped working. All of a sudden I was getting incomplete information from customer orders. Our IT department had to completely reload everything and that was no easy task. I’m happy to report that it looks like we are 100% back up and running including the incredibly popular free downloads. If you are having any issues, reset your password and refresh the web page you are trying to view and that should do it.
I have to tell you that during this time it was mostly feathers for me. I knew it would get better, but the joy was definitely hard to find. But find it we did thanks to the efforts of one Christopher Brown and his tenacity. My advice is this; press on and while you are pressing on know that change is coming and it will get better so find contentment during your trial because wherever you go, there you are.
Here is my inspiration for this message:
Phil 3:13-14 MSG Friends, don't get me wrong: By no means do I count myself an expert in all of this, but I've got my eye on the goal, where God is beckoning us onward - to Jesus. I'm off and running, and I'm not turning back.
Eccl 9:11 NIV I have seen something else under the sun: The race is not to the swift or the battle to the strong, nor does food come to the wise or wealth to the brilliant or favor to the learned; but time and chance happen to them all.
Acts 15:38 MSG But Paul wouldn't have him; he wasn't about to take along a quitter who, as soon as the going got tough, had jumped ship on them in Pamphylia.

Announcing a New Class of Laser Cut Kit Item
4" Inlay
I have been working on this concept for some time now. These inlays are 4" in diameter x 1/4" thick. They are perfect as inlays in the bottom of a commemorative plate or platter and will even work in bowl bottoms. They can be used as coasters in sets of 4 or more. The perimeter is cherry wood, the inner circle is American Black Walnut and the monogrammed letter is white acrylic.
You can use them for any special occasion such as anniversaries, weddings, new baby, graduation, job promotion, etc. Check the web site as I will be expanding this line to include stock items such as Gold Star Families. Personal info can be added for a small extra charge. I expect to be able to accomodate special requests for personalized copy as needed.
Now Available! More Info HERE or search "Laser Bowl Inlays"
If you want something not described here, I can probably do it. Just drop me a note with your request:
