Disneyland For Adults
Folks, I’ve been doing this for a very long time now and at a very high level. I’ve been a vendor/demonstrator at over 400 trade shows/symposiums in my career. But, I have to tell you that everyone is still like a day at Disneyland for adults as far as I’m concerned.
Yes, we just returned from the AAW symposium in Kansas City, Mo. Many of you stopped by to see Sweet Janice, my son Christopher and me. We are grateful for your kind words and if you picked up some merchandise while you were there, we appreciate that too. Thank you for the admiration many of you expressed for Christopher’s turned composite bowls and vases made from Alumilite resin and Red Mallee burl. It will be difficult to live with Christopher’s enlarged head now.
Most of all, we are glad to be able to participate in such world class events. Don’t forget that even though we are “Professionals”, we love to see all of the new stuff other vendors bring to these shows. Although I know most of the demonstrators personally, we still love to see the same celebrities you do; Richard Raffan, Mike Mahoney, Jimmy Clews, Kirk Deheer, Nick Cook, Dick Sing, Carl Jacobson, Tim Yoder, Mark Baker, Cindy Drozda, Sam Angelo and scores of others.
Just like you’ve heard from sports players who get to meet and sometimes play with folks they greatly admired on their way up the ladder, we are surrounded by folks we have learned from over the years. Just like many of you, we spent way too much money on new toys, but will certainly enjoy using them in the coming months.
We are excited that we get to do it all over again in about six weeks at SWAT in Waco, Texas August 25-27, 2017. SWAT is second only to the AAW in attendance. It is an extremely well run event and if you are anywhere on the fence, don’t hesitate to make the trip. It will be well worth the time and expense. If you are flying, you might think about flying into Dallas, TX and driving down. The savings in airfare are usually worth the extra effort.
We will be entering a new phase shortly at Ron Brown’s Best, LLC as our new Photo Studio B comes on line. We have been building and outfitting a dedicated shop just for videos for the past 18 months and it is ready to come on line in the next couple of weeks. I will be using it to shoot short weekly free YouTube how-to videos and for full length project specific DVD’s which we will offer for sale. Expect to see full length titles like “Mason Jar Lids Made Easy”, “Turning Green Wood Bowls Made Easy”, “Miniature Bird Houses Made Easy” and others this coming fall.
