First

I can walk on two legs for the first time in 3 months. I can drive my truck for the first time in 3 months. I made my own pot of coffee for the first time in 3 months. I went to the pharmacy and walked in without a wheel chair for the first time in 3 months. My house seems much smaller now. Traveling from the living room to the bathroom doesn’t seem like a trip from Florida to California any more.

I have a new found understanding and empathy for folks with walking-standing issues. It will be a while before I’m 100% back, but I feel I’m pretty close today. My endurance will return pretty quickly then watch out. I am very grateful for the wonderful support I got from my wife, Sweet Janice and my son Chris as well as the rest of my family. Being glued to the couch for 3 months is no picnic. I don’t think I’ll ever underappreciate the gift of good health any more.

Much has actually been accomplished during my time of recuperation. I was forced to delegate all of the manufacturing tasks to others during this season of mandatory immobility. Now others are trained and are capable of carrying on production without my oversite every minute and that is a blessing. At one point in my business career I managed convenience stores. My district manager approached me about adding yet another store to my group. I said “are you trying to kill me!” He said I would either learn to delegate or I would work myself to death. I must have learned to delegate, because I’m still here.

I have worked myself up to sets of 25 push-ups and 30 sit ups each day and if that doesn’t sound like much, you should have seen me when I started. I will be back stronger than ever. It turns out that we will be making an appearance at the AAW National Symposium in Kansas City in June after all. I plan to have my new line of Amazing Doughnut Chuck™ and accessories on display for anyone who wants to see them hands-on. We will be in the area with Easy Wood Tools and Trend Sharpening Products. We hope you will stop by to say hello because wherever you go, there you are.

Here is my inspiration for this message.

John 9:25 ESV2011

He answered, “Whether he is a sinner I do not know. One thing I do know, that though I was blind, now I see.”

Job 42:12 ESV2011

And the LORD blessed the latter days of Job more than his beginning. And he had 14,000 sheep, 6,000 camels, 1,000 yoke of oxen, and 1,000 female donkeys.
